Biography
Michael Altman, PhD, DABR, is an associate professor of radiation oncology. He earned a PhD in medical physics in 2010 from The University of Chicago. He joined the medical physics faculty in 2012 after completing his physics residency at Henry Ford Health System in 2012. Dr. Altman is the lead clinical physicist for the MR/HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) program. His other clinical responsibilities include physics support for brachytherapy, external beam, and satellite offices. Dr. Altman’s research interests include quality clinical implementation of hyperthermia for MR/HIFU systems, quality assurance of MR/HIFU systems, automated quality assurance of contours for radiation therapy treatment planning, and an array of projects in prostate and breast brachytherapy. He is certified in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology.
